This course is designed for New Zealand and Australian tradespeople. In order to fully benefit from this learning opportunity, students needs to be motivated and enthusiastic, to have understanding and experience of New Zealand and Australian construction systems and proficiency in mathematics to senior secondary school level.
Detailed course outcomes
The course is designed to prepare qualified students for the PHI Certified Passive House Tradesperson exam. Understand the theory and practical application of:
- building science
- how heat and moisture move through building assemblies
- the overall Passive House concept
- thermal envelopes
- the three construction layers
- high-performance windows and doors
- airtightness
- ventilation
- thermal bridging
- building services for high-performance buildings
- shading and overheating
Dates & location
This course consists of eight live 2-hour sessions held twice weekly on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM (Auckland time). The upcoming intake is scheduled to run from 18 August 2026 - 15 September 2026. In addition to the core classes, participants have access to an optional weekly one-hour evening coaching session with one of our experts for extra support and technical Q&A. The exam is held on the last day of the course.
