Course Overview
This course is designed to prepare qualified tradespeople for the PHI Certified Passive House Tradesperson exam. It covers both the theory and practical application of building science and high-performance construction.
Schedule & Important Dates
- Next Intake: 18 August 2026 – 15 September 2026
- Core Sessions: 8 live sessions (2 hours each) held twice weekly on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM (Auckland time).
- Bonus Support: Access to an optional, weekly 1-hour evening coaching and Q&A session with an expert.
- Optional exam will be held on the final day of the course (15 September 2026).
Prerequisites & Requirements
To successfully participate, students need: Experience with and understanding of New Zealand and Australian construction systems. Proficiency in mathematics to a senior secondary school level. Strong motivation and enthusiasm.
Key Topics Covered
- The curriculum focuses heavily on Passive House concepts and energy efficiency, including:
- Building Science: Heat/moisture movement, thermal envelopes, thermal bridging, and shading/overheating.
- Construction Elements: The three construction layers, high-performance windows, doors, and airtightness.
- Systems: Ventilation and building services tailored for high-performance structures.
