Let’s catch up this conference season. I’ll be heading to the Passivhaus THRIVE conference in Melbourne (June 25-26) and the PHINZ conference in Auckland (July 30-31), and I’m especially keen to see former students from our Retrofit Expert, Passivhaus Tradesperson, and Advanced PHPP classes.

I’m not speaking in Melbourne this year, which means I can actually relax and absorb. I’m particularly looking forward to the retrofit and EnerPHit sessions by Andy Marlow, Marcus Strang, and Cameron Munro, plus the release of the APHA Retrofit Guide. I’ll be roaming around town the day before (June 24th) with my extrovert girlfriend. We’re staying at the Tyrian Albert Park Lake (halfway between Docklands and St Kilda), so let me know if you want to hang out and grab a coffee.

Speaking of retrofit guides, our own Deep Energy Retrofits for New Zealand book is currently at the NZGBC and almost ready for graphical layout. The early feedback has been great, but teasing out what’s required for the broader market and clearly defining “best” practice versus “good” practice is hard work.

If you are staying on this side of the ditch, I hope to see you at the PHINZ conference in Auckland. I’ll be delivering a keynote on Core Lessons from the PH RetroPHit Expert Class. I’m already feeling the pressure to deliver a cracker of a presentation, given I’m sharing the ‘keynote’ billing with Tom Webster (Grand Designs NZ), Tomas O’Leary (Mosart), and Peter Wolfkamp (Newstalk ZB).

Tickets for PHINZ are super affordable right now, so grab one and I’ll see you there.
