This course equips Passive House professionals with the materials and approach needed to confidently explain the Passive House concept, persuade those that can be persuaded, shift thinking about appropriate performance for homes and other buildings. Designed for ‘lunch-and-learn’ style events, the slide deck and speaking notes make use of the approach recommended by expert communicator Jess Berentson-Shaw.
By providing the materials and framework, we aim to make it easier for Passive House professionals to create ‘lightbulb moments’ for future clients, position themselves as trustworthy experts and win more work that will be certified or at least energy-modelled at design stage.
Dates & location
The training will be conducted via a live webinar. The inaugural training takes place on Thursday 13 February 2025, 12.30-2.30pm. (The webinar won’t be available for replay on demand, however the training will be repeated at intervals according to demand.)
Detailed course outcomes
This offering has two parts: resources (a slide deck and speaking notes) and a webinar that explains the approach underpinning the materials. A Passive House Champion will be able to:
- plan and promote hour-long presentations to clients and colleagues
- host an accurate and engaging presentation about key Passive House concepts
- inform and inspire people new to Passive House
- position themselves as an expert
- use a new framework for talking about the benefits of Passive House
- skillfully avoid using well-meaning but ineffective descriptions and language that undermine our shared goals
This serves to promote the overarching goal of winning more work on projects that are certified to a Passive House standard or at least energy modelled at design stage.
Course structure
Students must attend the live webinar in-person, so as to be briefed and have any questions answered. The materials will be presented. Champions must sign a simple agreement that sets out the terms of use of the materials, following which a link to download the PowerPoint file will be provided.

- Slides labelled as essential slides must be included in each presentation (but you are encouraged to add and reorder material to best suit your audience and skill set).
- The slide deck will include discreet Sustainable Engineering Ltd branding that must not be removed from the slides provided.
