Help coming for PHPP heat pump worksheet New webinar available in March ‘25

16 January 2025 by Jessica Eyers

Every Passive House designer who has modelled in PHPP10 knows what a pain it’s become to enter heat pump data. To solve this, we’re developing a heat pump webinar with a whole lot of building physics behind it. (Save the date: 5 March 2025, 12.30 – 2.00pm)

PHPP9 allowed standard data to be used, but PHI changed that with the release of PHPP10. As with windows, it’s really hard to extract specific data from the heat pump manufacturers/suppliers. (As with windows, some are worse to deal with than others.)

But New Zealand and Australian designers have some very specific obstacles because the AU/NZ heat pump Standard is different to the EU Standard. PHI has released a heat pump tool based on those EU numbers that makes it really easy for Passive House designers in Europe! But if we try to use those numbers, really funky results happen. We know it’s causing designers stress and wasting time so we’re developing a solution for local designers.

We’re doing the hard building science so as to spare individual designers from doing it on every job. We’re also compiling a database with the performance data for heat pumps available in New Zealand, just like our window database you already rely on.

The heat pump webinar will explain this in more detail and show you how to use our tools so that you’ll no longer need to dread opening that heat pump worksheet. It’s scheduled for 5 March 2025, 12.30-2.00pm.

There is no charge for those who completed the Advanced PHPP relaunched in September 2024 and only $75 (+GST) for everyone else. Find more information and register here.
