Dr Kara Rosemeier has personally trained and certified almost every Passive House professional in New Zealand and her influence cannot be overstated. Kara is preparing for a gradual retirement and to this end, her Passive House Academy New Zealand (PHANZ) is joining forces with Sustainable Engineering Ltd. The new training entity will honour the historic relationship with Te Whare Korou ki Aotearoa/PHINZ, and PHINZ member benefits remain unchanged.
Kara will work closely with Sustainable Engineering director Jason Quinn to deliver training in 2024-25. All enquiries about training should go to Kara during this period. From 2026, Passive House training will be wholly led by the Sustainable Engineering team. “Passive House education has found a solid base on which it can continue to grow and thrive,” says Kara.
In 2024, Sustainable Engineering Ltd will offer continuing education courses for Passive House tradespersons and designer/consultants on a quarterly basis. Additionally, the Sustainable Engineering team will work with Kara to teach the Passive House certification courses and to deliver the South Island tradesperson courses under the PHANZ name.
“Kara’s influence in the development of Passive House in New Zealand is unrivalled,” says Jason. “Any one who has trained with her appreciates her mastery of the topics, her high standards and her commitment to the widespread uptake of the Passive House standard.”
