Kara’s last tradies course A decade of fostering transformation

24 November 2024 by Jessica Eyers

It was the end of an era last week, when Kara Rosemeier taught her last CET (certified Passive House tradesperson) in Auckland . Knowing Kara, hers will be a very active retirement and it’s a staged process. Kara will run one or more Certified Passive House Designer courses in 2025 before Sustainable Engineering assumes responsibility for all Passive House certification training.

Here’s Kara with her last cohort of CET students in Auckland last week, holding the kowhai tree presented to her to mark the occasion.

It’s been at least a decade of coaching builders and other tradies through the PHI exam. Kara says her students have been “overwhelmingly awesome” throughout that time. She will miss being there for their lightbulb moments: when the pieces of the puzzle all come together and everything makes sense.

Kara jokes she won’t miss the course admin though, and I know why! I’m in the thick of organising the next certified tradesperson training course. It will be held in Christchurch on 14-17 April 2025, led by me with expert input by Simon Wansbrough, Grant Anderson and the team at Pro Clima. Look out for enrollment information coming soon.
